Safeguarding

Introduction

It is everyone at Falcon Junior School’s job to ensure that every child at our school is safe and protected from harm. We therefore ask everyone who will be working with our children, whether it be a member of staff or a volunteer, to read the guidance in this leaflet and ensure they know what to do in the case of a concern.
CHILD PROTECTION

If you have any concerns about a child at Falcon Junior School you should report these to either the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) or the deputy designated safeguarding leads (DDSL).

The designated safeguarding lead (DSL) or the deputy designated safeguarding leads (DDSL) are:

Michelle Margree

Assistant Headteacher (DSL)

Edward Savage

Headteacher (DDSL)

Sharon Hunter

Assistant Headteacher (DDSL)

Sharon Wagstaff

Assistant Headteacher (DDSL)

Lucy Toomer

Office Manager (DDSL)

David Wright

Safeguarding Governor

Things you should report:

  • A child seems to regularly have bruises or injuries.
  • A child talks about violence at home.
  • A child uses inappropriate sexual language or behaves in an inappropriate way for their age.
  • A child tells you something that makes you concerned for their safety.
This list is by no means everything there is! Please report anything that gives you cause for concern.

What do I do if a child tells me something?

If a child begins to tell you about something that is happening to them you should:

  • Tell them that you want to make sure they are safe.
  • Tell them that you will have to pass on what they have told you to keep them safe.
  • Listen carefully and try not to ask questions.

REMEMBER! ALWAYS PASS ON THE INFORMATION IMMEDIATELY.
